Indian Player Subhman Gill and Wicket Keeper Batsman Jitesh Sharma have not been given a chance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Keeping in mind the recent T20I performances, Subhman Gill and Jitesh Sharma have given very average performance without any half century and played a good innings.

India’s Squad for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026
Team India’s Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar has finally announced the squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. There has been a big change in the selection of players of the squad. Shubman Gill, who was the Vice Captain of the T20 series played between India vs South Africa a few days ago, has now not been given a chance for the T20 World Cup 2026, considering his average performance.
The last ICC T20 World Cup was played in the year 2024 and Team India had won the final. Team India has officially announced its list of 15 players. The T20 World will start from 7 February 2026. Team India would like to win the third ICC T20 World Cup on the basis of its performance. The matches will be played at venues in India and Sri Lanka.
Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar is India’s batsman and also has almost 16 months of captaincy experience in T20I. Keeping this in mind, BCCI has given him the opportunity to lead the ICC Men’s T20 2026. Along with this, 2024 ICC T20 World Cup star performer Axar Patel has been given the role of Vice-Captain.
There is a big question on BCCI and Suryakumar Yadav as well. Suryakumar Yadav is playing his captaincy role well but is not able to score runs with his batting. Suryakumar has not been able to score a half century in the last 25 innings. In the last 20 innings, he has been able to score only 227 runs and that too with an average of 11 and a strike rate of 105. Suryakumar has also made a record for the lowest T20I average by an Indian captain in a year. It will have to be seen in the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup whether Suryakumar Yadav is able to make a strong comeback or not with his batting.
