IPL 2026 Retention Update: Biggest Trades
On 15 November 2025, all the teams participating in the Indian Premier League have made some changes to their teams according to their needs and purse amount. The management of the team playing in IPL has replaced the out of form batsman or bowler with a good inform batsman or bowler so that the performance of the team remains better in IPL.
The retention date of IPL 2026 is 15th November 2025, Saturday.
TATA IPL 2026 Player Trade Updates
Sanju Samson
Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain and India’s wicketkeeper-batter will now play for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at his current league fee of INR 18 crore. CSK will be the third franchise of his career. CSK believes Samson’s attacking style and dependable batting will add stability to their top order and improve their match-winning potential.
Sanju Samson was listed in the Kolkata Knight Riders’ squad pool ahead of the 2009 IPL. He joined KKR for the 2012 IPL but didn’t play any matches and was released before the 2013 edition.
After debuting in the 2013 season, Sanju Samson featured for RR each year except in 2016 and 2017 seasons, during which he played for the Delhi Capitals.
Sanju Samson was retained by the Rajasthan Royals team for ₹18.00 crore.
Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja, the experienced all-rounder and former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain, will play for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the upcoming IPL season after being traded to the franchise.
Ravindra Jadeja made his IPL debut in 2008 for Rajasthan Royals in the first IPL season under Shane Warne’s captaincy.
RR gains major advantages after signing Ravindra Jadeja, one of the most experienced all-rounders in IPL history. RR will get better control in the middle overs, especially on slow tracks like Jaipur. Their fielding also improves significantly, as Jadeja is one of the best fielders in world cricket, adding intensity and saving crucial runs as has been revised from INR 18 crore to INR 14 crore.
Ravindra Jadeja has played for CSK for 12 seasons and has appeared in 250 matches for the franchise.
Sam Curran
Sam Curran is expected to move from Chennai Super Kings to Rajasthan Royals in a big IPL trade. His arrival gives RR a more stable all-round option and better balance going into the new season. The move also helps Rajasthan improve their middle-overs plans and adds extra depth to their squad for the challenges ahead.
Sam Curran made his IPL debut in IPL Season 2019 Kings XI Punjab against RR.
Sam Curran has a current league fee of INR 2.4 crore after completing the trade deal.
Mohammad Shami
Mohammed Shami has been traded from Sunrisers Hyderabad to Lucknow Super Giants for INR 10 crore ahead of the IPL season. The experienced pacer has played 119 IPL matches for five different franchises. Shami won the Purple Cap in 2023, taking 28 wickets in 17 games while playing for the Gujarat Titans.

Shardul Thakur
Shardul Thakur has been traded to the Mumbai Indians from the Lucknow Super Giants for INR 2 crore. He is known for his pace bowling, capable of swinging the ball and delivering effective split-finger slower balls. Thakur made his IPL debut in 2015 for Kings XI Punjab.
In the 2022 IPL auction, Shardul Thakur was bought by Delhi Capitals for ₹10.75 crore, becoming one of the most expensive picks of the season.
In the 2025 IPL auction, Shardul Thakur went unsold, but he was later brought in as a replacement by the Lucknow Super Giants for the injured Mohsin Khan and made an immediate impact by taking 6 wickets in just 2 matches.
Sherfane Rutherford
Sherfane Rutherford was traded to the Mumbai Indians from the Gujarat Titans for INR 2.6 Crore. He made his IPL debut in 2019 playing for the Delhi Capitals. He has power-hitting ability and can play flexible roles with a very high strike rate. Sherfane Rutherford is a left-handed batsman and bowls right-arm medium fast. He is known as a quick-cameo maker, making him valuable in the middle and lower-middle order.
Mayank Markande
Mayank Markande has been traded from Kolkata Knight Riders to Mumbai Indians for INR 30 lakh. The leg-spinner will make a return to the Mumbai Indians franchise.
Mayank Markande made his IPL debut in 2018 for Mumbai Indians against Chennai Super Kings. In his very first match, he took 3 wickets, including a key dismissal of MS Dhoni with a googly.
Arjun Tendulkar
Arjun Tendulkar has been traded to Lucknow Super Giants from Mumbai Indians for INR 30 lakh. A bowling all-rounder, he was first picked by the Mumbai Indians in the 2021 IPL auction and made his IPL debut in 2023.
Nitish Rana
Nitish Rana, a left-handed batsman, will now play for Delhi Capitals after being traded from Rajasthan Royals for INR 4.2 crore. He has made a name for himself as a reliable middle-order batsman. Rana is known for his aggressive stroke play, smart running between the wickets, and strong finishing abilities.

Donovan Ferreira was traded to the Rajasthan Royals from Delhi Capitals for a fee between INR 75Lakh and 1Crore, marking a successful deal for Delhi Capitals. He made his IPL debut in 2024 for Rajasthan Royals against Delhi Capitals. So far, he has played only 3 IPL matches, scoring a total of 9 runs. Ferreira is a right‑handed batsman who primarily plays in the middle overs.
